| Good day, I started Sasha a 5 year old Thoroughbred mare on happy gut as she started wind sucking and was losing condition due to the wind sucking. | HAPPY GUT TESTIMONIAL I had been struggling with my mares for a few months to get good condition on them, they always looked ribby and tucked up and just not 100% happy with-in themselves. | TESTIMONIAL : CALELA GEEPEE – “HAPPY GUT” (EQUI 1 STOP) In September 2018, I materialised a long cherished dream, that being to purchase and own a purebred S.A. Boerperd. It seemed ordained to own CalelaGeepee. A phone call, a visit and the instant I saw him, I knew I had to have him. Not only was he what I was looking for physically, but also he was my favourite Boerperd colour and had a temperament that complimented me. Unfortunately I could only fetch him two weeks after I first saw him, due to a long planned family vacation, and me not wanting to leave a new horse at home with minimal supervision. What struck me when I went tom collect him, was that he seemed to have lost condition. With him being on the veld and the rains being late with the grazing being minimal , I felt, with a good de worming and plenty of good roughage , Lucerne and being put on concentrates, he would be fine. To my dismay, despite receiving add lib A grade eragrostis, a flake of Lucerne and being put on 2.4kg’s of a good concentrate , fed in 3 meals, he continued losing weight. To me for 15.2HH Boerperd doing minimal work, I felt actually this was too much. Boerperde are known to be good doers. In fact I was afraid to ride or work him beyond walking 3 times weekly due to his condition. I thought, since his quarantine was over, if he got a friend, he would improve. That didn’t work either.
